Study

Civils, drainage & service works package for Graiseley External Works project at Hallet Drive, Wolverhampton, WV3 0NY. Our team carried out the Hallet Drive project for Wates Construction Ltd, which consists of external refurbishment works around the existing tower blocks. The project included some initial clearance works, including breaking up, removing steel palisade fencing, removing existing hard surfaces, and digging trial holes to locate and support services in our area of operation.

Sub-structure works for a sprinkler building were also completed on this project, installing foundations including formwork, using Caltite waterproof concrete, Polythene damp-proof membrane and steel reinforcement.

Drainage works completed during the project for storm & foul water include the installation of inspection chambers, Catchpits, Hydro-Break and Road Gullies and then the reinstatement of surfaces in these areas using Asphalt to specification “for the reinstatement of openings in highways fourth edition”. Pipework was both Perforated & Non-Perforated, and sizes varied between 150mm & 225mm in diameter. Works also included the formation of a pit for a new cold-water chamber, installing a new tee and stop tap & connection to the existing boosted cold-water chamber.

External Surfaces, Trenching and Pipework, works completed during the project included:
Excavating trenches.
Breaking through any existing hard surfaces, including masonry & existing road/tarmac.
Installing various types of twin wall ducting & HDPE barrier pipes
Using temporary protection such as trench boxes and road plates.

Road and Paving works completed during the project included the formation of new footways and installation of both permeable and non-permeable paving in various areas, the structure of different types of kerbs, white lining to parking bay areas, then making good to road construction & carriageway including the resurfacing of these areas to highway spec (“For the reinstatement of openings in highways fourth edition”) using sub-base, dense binder & surface courses.

The final works completed onsite included the supply and installation of 0.45m high softwood trip rail, excavation for post holes where required, laying a concrete base for posts, and refixing previously taken down steel palisade fencing 1.4m high.

During the project, our site team liaised with WPD, Severn Trent Water and Local Authority Highways Inspection Team to ensure all works were completed to their specifications.
